One thing I"m going to try and do a lot more this year is read a lot more books. Lou will tell you that I'm not much if a book worm - instead I tend to read magazines and surf the net a lot. A want to vary the type of books I read - ones to help inspire me for the business and then ones for me to enjoy personally.
So this month I'm starting off with two. The first is 'The Anatomy of Buzz' by Emmanuel Rosen. I did read this at the beginning of last year but the internet has grown so much and there are always so many new ways of marketing yourself, that I thought I would give it another read. I first came across this book when it was recommended by an American photographer David Jay. He has a great philosophy about his business and how he promotes himself, which gives him so much freedom and control over his life.
The second book is called "Italian Grammar". Sounds a bit dry, I admit, but it's for a reason. One side of our business we would love to develop is to do wedding photography in Italy. My parents have a house out there and we have spent many a summer in Italy thinking wouldn't it be great if we could do weddings here. So one personal goal this year is to start learning the language. In the meantime if there is anybody out there who is getting married out in Italy and still needs a photographer please get in touch - We would love to hear from you:-)

How are you liking the Anatomy of Buzz? I missed David Jay's recommendation of it but it looks interesting...I may have to check it out.
Hi mk!
It is a great book so far - Talks a lot about how to create a buzz about you. It's a hard job to be done both on-line and off-line. A good quote saying that good customer service is not enough -
"There is a misconception that if a company gives good service it would automatically get good word of mouth. What we have found is that companies that make a conscious effort to promote word of mouth are the ones that are most successful in getting word of mouth"
It also talks a lot about having integrity and being direct and honest with your clients when building your relationship with your client.
I'll post a better review when i finsihed it.
Also love your images on your site mk.
P:-)
